DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Area Ao Baptist Arogo Pastors' Fellowship (DAABAPF), during a meeting held on December 7, resolved to stand against the lifting of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, either partially or totally.
The fellowship unanimously affirmed to advocate for a proper and stricter implementation of the Act.
In a statement, the fellowship argued that the NLTP Act has never been implemented in its actual form since 1989. It stated that the state government has failed to implement Chapter III of the Act, which mandates the appointment of a director of prohibition, prohibition officers, a state-level prohibition council, and district-level prohibition committees.

The fellowship condemned the view that the Act is "unimplementable or a failure", terming it instead a failure of the state machinery.
The fellowship also stated that the Act was born out of the mass participation of Christians and the sacrifice of 125 people during the "Fast unto death campaign" in 1989.
The DAABAPF appealed to all Christians in Nagaland to raise their voices against the lifting of the Act.
