DIMAPUR — M Raja Kishore, regional executive
director of Airports Authority of India, North East Region, Guwahati, informed
in a press note released on Saturday that he, along with his team, visited
Dimapur Airport to inspect the ongoing capacity expansion project of the
airport terminal building.
According to a DIPR report, after a review meeting with the
airport director and the team at Dimapur Airport, Kishore assured that the
renovation and expansion of the terminal building would be completed by the end
of March 2024.
During his visit, Kishore also travelled to Kohima at the
invitation of the Nagaland government to participate in the 25th Hornbill
Festival.
In a meeting with the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu
Rio, discussions focused on resolving land issues to upgrade Dimapur Airport to
international standards. The Chief Minister assured swift action to address
these issues, paving the way for enhanced aircraft operations and improved
connectivity.
Further discussions were held on leveraging Nagaland’s
tourism potential and promoting organic cargo, with suggestions from local
chambers of commerce. Kishore emphasised the need to enhance business and
entrepreneurship opportunities, generate direct and indirect employment, and
strengthen connectivity through Dimapur Airport.
