Dilong Youth Association (DYA) secured a berth in the quarterfinals after defeating Onet Korang SC (5-0) in the first match, while OCYU also sailed into the quarters after a 1-1 drawing with Zonipang) in the last day of the league matches at the ongoing XXI MDFA Trophy 2015 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Friday.
In the first match, Dilong Youth Association from Pool C, having two previous drawn matches, easily thrashed Onet Korang SC, and entered into the quarter final. They will meet Shooting Starz FC on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
The first goal for Dilong Youth Association arrived at the 21st minute when Lanutaka, striker (jersey no 13) received a cross from midfielder Alumai (jersey No-2), inside the D-box and shot into the net. Then at the 25th minute, Limakumzuk (jersey no 9) headed the goal from a corner kick. As the Onet Korang team tried to come to terms with the successive two goals, Dilong’s midfield Bendangsunep jersey -7 dribbled the ball and scored inside the D-Box in the 28th minute.The second half was also dominated by the DYA.
Though Onet Korang team tried their best to counter attack, but failed. In the opening minutes, they missed a good chance, but the ball was kicked over the Dilong’s goalposts. But disaster struck Onet Korang team when a Yellow Card was awarded to one of its mid fielder (Jersey No-17) and a free kick was awarded to DYA. Limakumzuk of DYA kicked the goal and straight into the net. It was his second goal and the fourth for DYA. Then, at the 60th minute, Alumai (jersey no 2) took the ball past the Onet defenses, the opponent goalkeeper came forward, but failed to stop the rushing Dilong midfielder who scooped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the nets.
In the second match between Zonipang SA and OCYU, the two teams played competitively. OCYU, with a previous drawn match, needed another draw or win match to enter the quarters; while the Zonipang SA with one lose match, desperately needed to win the last league match of the tournament.
The first half was dominated by Zonipang. While defending a corner kick from Zonipang, a hand ball was committed by an OCYU defender inside the D-Box. The referee promptly gave a penalty kick, which was taken by Zonipang’s Chuba Imchen (jersey no 17) who effortlessly kicked the ball into the net.
The match became more interesting as Zonipang SC, with their morale boosted, and tried to find another goal to secure their win. The OCYU defense and goalkeeper put up a brave front to thwart their chances. In the second half, the Zonipang team again continued their campaign for another goal, while the OCYU tried their best to equalize the goal, at least for a drawn match.
Finally, at 59th minute, OCYU’s team while undertaking a counterattack found a chance with their defender Limanukshi (jersey no 3) taking a long shot and directly into the net. The match became more competitive, but at the end, it ended 1-1 with OCYU entering the quarters.
OCYU will face Shitilong SA at the second quarter final on Monday.
Meanwhile, at the first quarter final on Saturday, the BDO of Tsurangkong, Nukshimatong Pongener is scheduled to be the match patron.
