Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): Commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the commissioner and secretary of Social Welfare department and administrator of Nagaland state social welfare board (NSSWB), Sarah Ritse, virtually launched the digital campaign on November 25 on the theme “We are in it together: Let’s end gender-based violence.”
In her message, Ritse has sought collective responsibility to ensure women’s safety and also encouraged everyone to participate in the online digital campaign. The event marked the launch of 16-day of activism against gender-based violence, which would culminate on December 10 coinciding with the Human Rights Day, an update from the Social Welfare department stated.
The digital activities are being jointly organised by the department of Social Welfare, Nagaland state commission for women (NSCW), Nagaland state social welfare board (NSSWB), state resource centre for women (SRCW), Nagaland-Mahila Shakti Kendra, and 181-women helpline (WHL) Nagaland.
The activities would include online pledge campaign, poetry slam video competition, awareness video on pledge campaign, IEC on ‘Legal entitlements to empower women’, and an awareness video on service providers 181-WHL and Sakhi-One stop centre (OSC), it added.
It informed that the poetry slam video competition would be opened to those between 15-30 years. The best three winners would receive cash prizes of INR 15,000, INR 12,000 and INR 8000 respectively. For more information on the competition and the online pledge campaign, all concerned are asked to follow the official twitter, instagram and facebook accounts of the SRCW Nagaland, and 181-women helpline Nagaland.
The report added that at the district level, the district administration under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme would also be organising various activities with the MSK-district level centres for women (DLCWs) and Sakhi-OSCs to commemorate the occasion.
