DIMAPUR — With an objective to create awareness among adolescents on healthy lifestyle, the District Health Society (DHS), Mon, under Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) organised an 'Adolescent Health and Wellness Day' (AHWD) on nutrition at Government High School (GHS) 'C' in Mon town on Friday.

The event was led by Kenyuhyule Thong, AFHC counselor, and Mewang, RBSK coordinator. Anemia screening was carried out by Marina Tep, community health officer (CHO) of Changlang HWC, stated an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon.

It informed that AHWD would be organised in all the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) of the district within a month. Activities to be covered during the event would include talks on healthy lifestyle, nutrition among adolescents, body mass index and anemia screening camps for both parents/ adolescents, provision for IFA tablets and Albendazole, counseling/ IEC-BCC activities on nutrition and balanced diet/ cooking with local produce and emergency referrals.

Report stated that Thong has explained in minute details on what is balanced diet, healthy lifestyle, common eating disorders, binge eating disorders and what to avoid to the students during the event.
