TUENSANG — A one
day workshop on ‘Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and
Redressal) Act 2013’ for the staff of chief medical office (CMO) was held on
November 27 at the conference hall of the CMO in Tuensang on the theme “United
to end violence against women.”
The workshop was organised by Mission Shakti: District Hub
for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Sakhi One Stop Centre, Tuensang, with
Antimangyang Chang, retainer lawyer of district legal service authority,
Tuensang, as the resource person.
Delivering the welcome address, T Longlang Luckpan, district
welfare officer, highlighted about the services available for women under
Mission Shakti such as Sankalp-Hub for Empowerment of Women, Pradhan Mantri
Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Palna Anganwadi cum Crèches, Sakhi Niwas (working
women hostel), which could be availed by women under different categories.
Speaking on the occasion, the resource person, stressed on
the rights guaranteed for both men and women.
“There was a time when men were the sole bread earner of the
house but with advancement of the society, women have started taking up space
in working institutions, and with this, there has been an increase in the rates
of women bring harassed in work places,” Antimangyang Chang said.
She also highlighted various ways in which one could
identify harassment made on women and the laws provided to prevent such crimes.
The workshop was chaired by Songmao M, DHEW coordinator.
The event was organised as part of the International Day for
Elimination of Violence Against women and 16 Days Activism.
