The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) has inaugurated the Village Legal Care and Support Centre for Dhansaripar village, in Dimapur district, on May 2. The event was followed by a seminar on legal services for the community.The new center was inaugurated by District and Sessions Judge of Dimapur, N Kanuo. He is also the chairman of the DDLSA. He was accompanied by DDLSA panel advocates and resource persons.
The purpose of setting up of this centre is to provide inexpensive legal relief easily accessible to the indigent and backward section of the society. Legal service extends to all cases of civil, criminal and all cases involving violation of fundamental rights as guaranteed by the constitution of India.
DDLSA also organizes Lok Adalat for settlement of pre-litigation and pending cases thereby avoiding costs, delay and ensuring speedy justice. DDLSA conduct legal awareness among the public on various social and legal importance.
Panel advocates Esther K Aye, Asungbe, Livika V Sumi and Limasenla Longkumer, covered various legal topics and legislative welfare schemes during the event. The topics include the Juvenile Justice Act, Right to Information Act, domestic violence, legal aid, women right, Lok Adalat, human trafficking, rape victim/compensation, National Social Assistance Schemes etc.
The program was attended by various organization, schools, unions, churches of Dhansiripar Village as well as by neighboring Villages. The participants discussed about their various grievances relating to Old Age Pension scheme, destitute of women and disability scheme relating to RTI during the interaction. Prodigal Home of Dhansiripar also provided a room for Village Legal Care and Support Centre.
