DGP Rupin Sharma urged ministerial staff to uphold integrity and strengthen administrative efficiency during the NDMSA's fifth biennial conference in Kohima.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Directorate Ministerial Service Association (NDMSA) held its fifth biennial conference-cum-50th general meeting at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on Friday, with Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma underscored the importance of maintaining a well-organised and systematic file management system in government offices.
According to a DIPR report, he said younger employees recruited through public service examinations possess the knowledge and capability to make valuable contributions to the ministerial establishment, while the experience and wisdom of senior staff, combined with the enthusiasm and fresh perspectives of younger employees, would further strengthen the functioning of government offices.
The DGP encouraged ministerial staff to familiarise themselves with the rules and procedures governing government service, particularly the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules.
He urged them to identify and address the root causes of administrative challenges to improve the functioning of the state government.
Describing knowledge of government rules and regulations as a fundamental responsibility of ministerial staff, Sharma advised employees to uphold integrity and make responsible decisions throughout their careers.
Delivering the exhortation, the first administrative officer of the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD), Kroneicho Naki, recalled that the association had pursued the creation of the administrative officer post for more than a decade.
Expressing gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for fulfilling the long-standing demand, he said he was honoured to serve as the department's first administrative officer.
Naki described ministerial staff as the backbone of the government and called upon them to discharge their duties with integrity, discipline and accountability.
He urged them to remain committed to public service and strive to leave behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism and faithful service.
Vice President of CANSSEA and Additional Director of the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, I Anungba Sanglir, highlighted the role of CANSSEA as the apex body representing government employees' associations in Nagaland.
He said the organisation has consistently taken up employees' concerns with the government while promoting a healthy and constructive relationship between the two.
Sanglir said CANSSEA has actively pursued issues relating to service conditions, pay, pension and employees' welfare.
He added that the association has also played an important role in the implementation of the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), while continuing to advocate for pension reforms and the implementation of the latest Revision of Pay (ROP) in the state.
He said these achievements reflected what could be accomplished through collective effort and encouraged the NDMSA to continue serving with unity, commitment and responsibility.
A strong association, he added, not only protects the interests of its members but also contributes to a more efficient and responsive public service, in keeping with CANSSEA's motto, "Progress and Prosperity through Service."
Earlier, on behalf of the NDMSA, Bendangsenla welcomed the gathering and expressed satisfaction at the association's achievements.
She also acknowledged the continued support extended by DGP Rupin Sharma to the ministerial staff.
She described the creation of the post of administrative officer as a historic achievement, fulfilling the association's more than decade-long demand. Bendangsenla also congratulated members who had recently been promoted and extended best wishes to the first batch of participants who completed the foundation course training on secretariat work for ministerial staff of the directorates.
