DIMAPUR — Director General (DG) Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and Sena Medal (SM), visited Headquarters of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Kohima, on Monday.
According to a press release, during the visit the DG was briefed on the operational preparedness, security situation, and welfare measures for troops in the area.
He interacted with officers, appreciating their dedication and professionalism in maintaining peace and stability in the region. The DG emphasised the importance of synergy with the local civil administration and security forces to ensure peace and development.
He also commended the initiatives undertaken by IGAR (North), Kohima, in fostering goodwill and strengthening the bond with the local populace through various civic action programmes.
Lakhera also visited the National Integration and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) centres at Chieswema and Ghaspani on August 17 and 18.

The visit was aimed at interacting with the students, motivating them to excel in their academic pursuits and competitive examinations, and taking stock of their preparations and living conditions.
At Chieswema, the DG interacted with 33 students and staff. He met with students and staff, lauding their commitment and encouraging them to strive for excellence with discipline and determination.
At Ghaspani, the DG also interacted with the students and teaching and administrative staff and appreciated their efforts to nurture young talent and prepare diligently for competitive examinations.
During his interactions, the DG motivated the students to excel in their academic pursuits, inspired them to remain dedicated, and assured them of all necessary support from Assam Rifles.
He also took stock of the facilities being provided to the students at the two centres. The DG emphasised the values of patriotism, service to the nation, and the role of youth as the future torchbearers of the country.
He highlighted the importance of holistic development, encouraging students to pursue not only academics but also sports, cultural activities, music, and other extracurricular pursuits for all-round personality development.
He inspired the students to dream big, work hard, and contribute positively towards society and the nation.
