Devp. highlight platform reaches Mon’s Leangha

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 10: A daylong special publicity ‘outreach program’ was held at Leangha village under Mon district on August 10 as p[art of events highlighting developmental movements and programs. The event was organized by the Mon unit of the directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Field Publicity. The extra assistant commissioner of Mon Sadar, Relise Sangtam, represented the district administration, in his speech during the formal program of the outreach, he called upon the villagers to ‘retrospect’ on the government’s various programs and schemes, their impact, identifying and solving problems and issues of villages ‘in order to march forward.’ Sangtam emphasized on quality education and encouraged the citizens to be ‘hardworking, sincere and disciplined.’ Also, he challenged the youths to demonstrate ‘competitive spirit, ambition and vision.’ The district program co-coordinator of the NSRLM of Mon, Rajuselie Lhousa, highlighted various programs and achievements of the Government of India during its 70 years of independence. He said that programs such as the National Rural Livelihood Mission look after the poor sections of the society, to improve their livelihood and promote self-employment, he said. The basic idea behind the outreach program was to organize the poor into self help groups (SHGs) and make them capable for self employment and sustenance, he said. A professor of Wangkhao Government College in Mon, Prof. Wangjin also highlighted the history of India before and after independence and the leaders who fought and made sacrifices for Indian independence. Narrating the ‘life story’ of freedom fighters, he encouraged the village’s leaders to unite, be ‘good leaders’ and to ‘respect one another.’
