Agartala, March 16 (PTI): Jishnu Devbarman, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura and BJP candidate from Charilam seat took oath as member of the state Assembly today.
I congratulate the voters of my constituency for casting such a huge number of votes in favour of me. I also congratulate the people of my state for forming the BJP-Indigenous People s Front of Tripura government , he told reporters afterWARDS.
Good governance, rule of law and implementation of flagship programmes of the central government would be our objective , he added.
Devburman had won with a record margin of 25,550 votes, superseding all past records of victory margin in the state s assembly election. Election in Charilam was countermanded following the death of CPI-M candidate Ramendra Narayan Debbarma a week before February 18 election in the state. Polling in the seat was held on March 12 and results were announced yesterday.
