KOHIMA — Destitute Children’s Home in Kohima, opposite to Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC), commemorated its 5th foundation day on Sunday.
In her message, the proprietor of Destitute Children’s Home, Kevilenuo Chadi (Alebu), informed that the home was founded on November 26, 2018, and registered with the government as a charitable society.
Recalling her journey, she stated that her late mother's compassionate nature towards the less fortunate made her understand the needs of those unfortunate children.
"This home shelters abandoned, abused, neglected, orphaned, and semi-orphaned children. At present, there are 9 destitute children under this home,” Chadi said.
She informed that the children suffer the most when their parents got separated or abandon them. She added that there are also children from unfortunate families who, despite having both parents, are unable to support and raise them due to their unfortunate circumstances or financial background.
“Such is the plight of the children who are presently under the care of the shelter home. This mission is a shared dream of my family to mold and shape the children to stand on their feet," she said.
