Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): Following its decision to close all educational institutions in Nagaland till April 12 in the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the state government has directed all teachers (both government and private) to be in their respective places of work and engage in awareness activities on Covid-19 in their respective localities.
In an order issued on Tuesday, the government also ordered all schools to strictly follow the order issued by Home department in regard to the closure of schools; and keep their offices open to enable dissemination of necessary information to the students.
“While conducting the scheduled examinations (CBSE/ICSE), seating arrangements should be made ensuring physical distance of one metre amongst students. During the closure of schools, usage of e-learning by students and teachers should be encouraged (using online apps/tutorials, discussion/learning through effective use of social media like WhatsApp etc.).
“To compensate for the loss of working days, the department will be taking measures like declaring Saturdays as working days, cutting down summer and winter holidays which will be notified in due course of time,” it stated.
The government further asked the teachers to prepare strategies to manage their classes during this period so that they can efficiently manage classes when the schools reopen. “Students are advised to keep up their reading habits and study their textbooks.
“Parents/guardians are advised to keep their ward(s) within the safe environment of their houses by avoiding large gatherings and public places to the extent possible. Students should also be taught on proper personal hygiene and social hygiene like handwashing etc., by parents/guardians,” it added.
