DIMAPUR — Continuing his initiative to ensure discipline and accountability in public service, Deputy Chief Minister (Home) Y Patton carried out surprise inspections at several government offices in Wokha on Friday to assess staff attendance.
The deputy CM was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar; Superintendent of Police Relo Aye; Lotha Hoho team led by chairman Mhondamo Ovung; and Lotha Students’ Union members led by vice president Rhonbemo P Ezung, among others, an update stated.
Attendance records at the District Education Office showed absentees in each section: Three out of 15 in the Senior SDEO Office, one out of 17 in the DEO Office, and three out of 11 in the Samagra Shiksha Office.

In the Office of the District Civil Supply Officer, out of a sanctioned strength of 15 staff, five were absent. At the SP Office, out of the sanctioned strength of 45 staff, two were found absent.
While appreciating offices with high attendance, the deputy chief minister directed that absentees without valid justification face necessary action, emphasising accountability.
Patton stated that those entrusted with official duties must be present to serve the people. He further affirmed that such surprise checks will continue until discipline and accountability become the norm across all government offices.
