  • WOKHA — Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton on Thursday conducted surprise inspections at various government offices in Wokha to enforce work discipline, reiterating the state’s ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy.

  • The drive began at Civil Hospital Wokha, where Patton checked attendance registers. One doctor was found absent without leave and faced a salary deduction. He directed officials to submit absentees’ names for an explanation call.

  • At the Public Works Department (PWD) office, several employees were found absent without prior notice and faced similar deductions. Patton also instructed Executive Engineer Mhathung Kikon to submit a proposal for office renovations.

  • He then inspected the multi-sports complex at Mount Tiyi College, following a request from the college authorities for urgent repairs. The facility was found to be in a dilapidated and unusable condition.

  • Patton assured that renovation work would be carried out using the Common Pool Fund. He also urged the college faculty and staff to ensure regular attendance, as it is the only government college in Wokha district. He warned that absent teachers would face salary deductions.

  • Underscoring the importance of regular attendance, Patton warned that such surprise checks would be conducted from time to time across departments.

  • “All employees must attend office without fail. Leave applications must be duly submitted and verified. Those on official training must produce valid training orders,” he said. He noted that recent inspections at the Nagaland Secretariat had increased staff attendance from around 800 to over 1,000.
