DIMAPUR — In line with an advisory issued by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland, has called on the public to report out-of-school children so they may be enroled in government schools.
According to a DIPR report, pursuant to the ‘Advisory for the protection and rehabilitation of impoverished, uneducated children, women and differently-abled individuals engaged in begging’, the DoSE has appealed to members of NGOs, municipal, town, and village councils, churches, student unions, and the general public to report to the Child Help Line 1098.

The categories include out-of-school children (those not enroled in any school or who have dropped out before completing elementary education) aged 6 to 14 years, including those involved in begging, and children aged 3 to 6 whose parents are involved in begging and who are not enroled in pre-school, Anganwadi, or Balvatika.
All district education officers, senior sub-divisional education officers (SDEOs), and SDEOs have been directed to coordinate with the concerned district child protection units and child welfare committees when such cases are brought to them for admission and to ensure that these children are enroled in nearby government schools as per the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009.
