PARLIAMENTARY Secretary for Higher Education & SCERT, Deo Nukhu inaugurated the DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) Centre at Wokha today as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, the chief guest stressed that the foundation during primary and elementary education is very important.
With the concerned department having the objective to achieve quality education at all level, he said it (SCERT) will soon start professional training for the teachers.
Mention be made that Wokha DIET centre is the seventh such institute in the State. The eight DIET centre will be inaugurated at Zunheboto on June 25. Nukhu added that DIET centres would be established in the three remaining districts very soon.
Meanwhile, the chief guest requested the principal and staff of DIET Wokha to bear with the inconvenience as the department will shortly be taking up infrastructure development like, quarters for teachers and non teaching staff, hostels, science lab, library and other facilities. He expressed hope that the Lotha community and other departments in the district will give the fullest support and cooperation as the department takes up development activities in the district.
Director SCERT Nagaland, Vipralhou Kesiezie delivering the keynote address, said the government in its attempt to restructure the the education system, has brought out policies to upgrade the institution (DIET) to a higher level to ensure quality education and further to make sure that teachers are professionally trained.
“There should be no untrained teachers and violation of the order will come to a state where government will stop funding,” Kesiezie said.
The SCERT Director also delivered more good news for Wokha district as he informed that a BITE centre (Block Level Institute of Teacher Education) will soon be established in the district, proposed to be located at Bhandari sub-division.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Vyasan R also delivered a short speech during the function. The programme was chaired by Additional Director SCERT, Khrietuo Mezhür, while welcome address was delivered by Principal, DIET, Wokha Imlikokla Longchar and vote of thanks proposed by Tony, Sr. lecturer, DIET, Wokha.
