Diphu, Oct. 22 (EMN): Dengue cases are still on the rise in Karbi Anglong, according to District Vector Borne Consultant, Health and Family Welfare Department, Obed Killing.
As per the official report, Killing said out of a total of 37 ELISA tests conducted, 12 were detected as positive for dengue. There is no official report of death due to the dengue case, Killing informed.
He also said that prevention measures such as fogging operations were done every evening in Diphu town, source reduction of breeding ground of mosquitoes, spraying of insecticide and medicating of mosquito nets.
Killing also asked the public to take precautionary measures and to use mosquito nets while sleeping at night.
One of the characteristics of the dengue mosquito is that it bites during the day and is advisable to wear full sleeve shirts, he said.
Killing further said that there is no specific medicine for the treatment of dengue, and doctors give treatment to dengue patients according to their symptoms. The only way to prevent the attack of dengue is to keep oneself safe, he added.
