Imphal, July 26 (EMN): Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) and revenue minister Karam Shyam Singh said on Wednesday that the state government has not completed the demarcation process for the new revenue districts created last year. Replying to a question Minister Shyam said that steps are on for constitution of a state boundary commission to be headed by a retired High Court judge.
‘The government may announce the constitution of the boundary commission after the ongoing assembly session got over,’ he said. “The government will take a decision for demarcation of the new revenue districts once the report from the boundary commission is received,” added Singh.
It may be mentioned that the previous government in the state had created seven new districts namely Jiribam, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal on December 8 last year which evoked mixed response from the different sections of the society. The said new districts were carved out from Imphal East, Thoubal, Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Chandel districts. However Imphal West and Bishnupur districts remained intact.
