Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Normal life was affected in several parts of Lower Assam as the All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AAKRSU) called for a 36 hour shutdown demanding formation of a separate Kamtapur state and granting ST status to the Koch Rajbongshis. According to DY365 Bureau report, the vehicles kept off the roads and business establishment remained shut in many places. Total shutdown was witnessed at Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon, Goreswar in Baksa, Bijni, Golakganj besides several other places.The Separate State Demand Committee for Kamtapur or Greater Cooch Behar which was formed in 2008 wants Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, north Dinajpur, south Dinajpur and Malda districts of Bengal and Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Barpeta, Nalbari, Darrang, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Morigaon districts as part of Kamtapur.
