“I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.”
“ In my alarm I said, “ I am cut off from your sight!” Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help.”
When the deeper faith are entered, deeper conflict arises and such are the nature of this warfare. The way traps are set, snares are laid are all the evidences of what the godly must go through. The prophets, apostles all faced these but none of them were given in to the desires of their foes. The truth is as enemies exist, so will conflicts be. The Lord’s servants cannot be strangers to such attacks and threats. For as the evils of this world are so will the enemies of the truth be many. The foes of Christ did not want him to reign and as the Apostles preached in the “Name”, the threats increased. These are what the dangers are and it can also come in the form of Joab and even Judas. The Lord’s anointed will always be eyed with envy but as the promise is they shall never be put to shame.
The king of Israel had numerous sins, numerous foes but it was God who protected him till the end. This man faced bitter warfare, bitter sorrows but it was his trust which made him endure it all. The way he escaped Saul’s spear, his son’s rebellion and Joab’s deception are all the evidences of how God delivered him from death and covered his shame for his own name’s sake. In regard to the fall and the restoration of the elect, the scripture states “ For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are bought down by calamity.” ( Proverbs 24:16 ) This was the life lived and everything he faced were in accordance to this. Thus as such as God’s promise is, the elect of God must fight every battle with confidence as they would for the Lord. The scripture does not favor the wicked but the righteous. The scriptures are what God is and God is the answer to everything.
(Psalm 118:13) (Psalm 31:22)
