DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 5
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded an explanation to what it said was the “government of India and Nagaland state government’s intent of (sic) summoning the ENPO to Delhi” on September 10 next.
A press release from the NPCC on Saturday wondered whether it was “to further divide Nagaland or to unite.” The people of Nagaland have had enough of Government of India’s design to destroy the peaceful united society of Nagas, it stated.
“They have dissected and sectioned Naga society into fractions. They are responsible for factional killings and multi-government taxations that are imposed on the Naga public. GOI knows that the multi-taxations are imposed on public but have never offered any solution to the factions. They want the public to be tortured and armless civilians to fight with them.”
It stated that the “ceasefire between GOI and Naga National Workers” has been handled by bureaucrats who are trained to weaken the enemy through tactical designs. “Hasty recognition of factions and encouraging factions to be formed within 72 hours and visiting ENPO secretly, giving package of 300 crores, inviting ENPO frequently and the rise of demand for Nagaland Fontal State are all the handiwork of the GOI.”
The hidden process of negotiations and signing and refusing to talk to other factions after agreeing to ceasefire, are all living evidences in front of the people that GOI of India is not sincere, it stated. “The 60 MLAs who have the mandate of the people are lame unlike the past leaders who stood upright for the people.” It warned that the failure to protect the people’s social practices, religion, land and rights, will not be forgiven.
