Delegation visits Khanari, urges peace

DIPHU — To investigate the incident that occurred a few weeks ago, where four villagers were physically assaulted in the jungle of Khanari, Karbi Anglong, by unknown miscreants, a delegation visited the spot and held a meeting on January 25 with the villagers to ensure clarity and prevent any misunderstandings.

The delegation was comprised of Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Phengpiga Rengma, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Minority Board chairman Prakash Sangma, Hills People Cultural Forum (HPCF) president Laichen Engleng, and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad president Jitu Phukon, among others.

On the occasion, MAC Rengma and HPCF president Engleng urged the villagers to maintain peace and met with the victims, Stephan Terang and Rangsina Teron of Wophong village, Koilamati and maintained that the assault was uncalled for.
