AMIDST debates on whether or not to lift the Prohibition Act from the State, Chief Minister TR Zeliang told a delegation of NBCC Committee today that the government will take action only after consulting the tribal hohos, women organizations, student bodies and civil societies. A consultative meeting in this regard is likely to be held in the month of September, a CMO release said.
The Chief Minister gave this assurance to NBCC Committee members consisting of 30 church workers from different associations who called on him at his residential office in Kohima to discuss the government’s policy and implementation of Prohibition Act in Nagaland. The NBCC delegation and the Chief Minister shared healthy exchange of views and opinions on the issue, the release said.
The NBCC members also submitted a memorandum to him expressing their stand and views on prohibition. Later, they offered mass prayer for the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers.
