IMPHAL, June 19: The angry women folks in protest against the recovery of a dead body of a girl, started to block the Khangabok area along the busy Imphal-Moreh road forcing inconvenience to the public on Sunday afternoon.
The dead body of Elangbam Kanon(22) daughter of Panchamani of Khangaabok part II Khullakpa Leikai under Thoubal district police station was recovered from the Thoubal canal around 9.10 am on Sunday.
The locality of the deceased girl also formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Elangbam Kanon and demanded justice into the incident. Condemning the incident, the newly formed JAC is also demanding befitting punishment to the accused person(s). A decision was also taken not to claim the dead body until the accused are booked and punished, according to a release signed by Laishram Asgakumar, general secretary of Social Welfare Club Khangabok.
Reports reaching here said that deceased girl Kanon was reported missing since June 11 this year after she came out of her Khangabok residence. The missing report was also published and telecasted in the local media, it added. Meanwhile the dead body has been evacuated to RIMS mortuary for necessary steps.
