Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN): De Operettas Music Institute in Kohima held its second annual recital programme, marking the culmination of the 2021 session of the institute, at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, on December 18.
Managing director of the institute, Surhuveyi Tetseo, informed that the students performed 27 varieties of items during the recital. For the 2021 session, a total of 74 students were enrolled along with 10 music teachers. Meanwhile, he informed that the admission for next year's session would start from January 11, 2022, onwards.
Special guest and master of music in vocal pedagogy, Ajeen Longchari Sucha, described recital as a platform for children to exercise their ability of a year round learning - a time to perform as an artiste with confidence and exhibit the lessons taught by the teachers.
She congratulated the institute for moulding the students in the right direction and added that she was inspired and impressed to see the outcome from the institute. She expressed confidence that the institute would grow in the days to come.
To the teachers, she encouraged that their hard work had bore fruit as evident at the recital. Saying that the growth in both teachers and students are important, she encouraged practising culture, which needs to be improved in the Naga society.
"We need to build quality, sincere and hard working musicians in our land," she said and urged all the performers to take serious thoughts about "originality." She, therefore, encouraged them to write songs and translate songs in their own style.
Stating that God created music for His glory and for man to worship Him, she impressed upon the musicians to remember that ‘music belongs to God and we are to use it for His glorification.'
She further warned the parents to be aware of what their children are singing or listening saying, that "not all music is good".
The recital was led by Avinuo Khoubve and Vetho Ringa.
