
Hiazu Meru addressing the monsoon preparedness-cum-quarterly
DDMA meeting held at the DC Conference Hall, Peren, on Monday.
- DIMAPUR — A meeting on monsoon preparedness and
the quarterly meeting of the Peren District Disaster Management Authority
(DDMA) was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of
DDMA Peren, Hiazu Meru, at the DC Conference Hall, Peren, on Monday.
- According to an update, the DC, in his opening address, emphasised
the importance of coordinated preparedness among all line departments,
agencies, and companies.
- He further highlighted that each has an important role in
managing emergencies and requested their active involvement and intervention in
responding to monsoon-related disasters.

- Meru stated that preparations must be made for the
worst-case scenario and pointed out potential disasters, such as
landslide-prone or sinking areas, that could present a significant threat to
commuters. He urged the relevant departments and companies to prioritise road
maintenance and ensure that the roads remain safe and passable for commuters
during the monsoon season.
- During the meeting, the DC advised the Food and Civil
Supplies (F&CS) Department to ensure a sufficient stock of essential
commodities.
- The CMO of Peren has been tasked with maintaining an
adequate stock of medicines for a timely response to health emergencies.
Several other line departments have also been directed to be well-prepared and
stay alert in case of any eventualities.
