Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has appreciated the department of Health and Family Welfare for taking the bold and humongous task of ensuring food safety and standard which is affecting every family in Nagaland.
A press release issued by the DCCI president, Akashe Zhimomi, while appreciating the DEpartment of HFW, strictly warned the vegetable, fruits vendors that it will not tolerate selling of chemically treated items for public consumption. It further warns the footpath vendors of selling products in an unhygienic condition.
"The recent inspection of food joints, bakery and ice cream unit by HFWD which was accompanied by DCCI president and colleagues where if found that some of those units were found unhygienic unfit for human consumption. DCCI warns that it will also periodically carry such surprise checks and will further not tolerate such conditions to operate," the release stated.
IN this connection, the DCCI appreciated the 'Commissioner and Secretary Himato Zhimomi (IFS) for zealously taking an initiative to ensure quality food to the public which was long overdue considering the health hazard that has affected the population of Nagaland'
The DCCI also appreciated Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi (CMO Dimapur) and his team for working tirelessly detecting contaminated food being sold in the market.
"DCCI and business community will support the initiative of HFWD in letter and spirit and request the HFWD and DMC to extend help and assist DCCI to work out the mechanism to ensure vegetables, fruits eatables are under constant monitoring and fit for human consumption," the release further added.
