Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is aghast with the uncountable and uncontrolled extortion spree by various Naga Political Groups (NPG) on business community from yearly, tax, agency tax, gate tax, transport tax, dealership, item wise tax and syndicate fees being collected by various groups.
A press release from DCCI president, Akashe K Zhimomi, stated that ‘nowhere in the world with such illegal can multiple taxation business thrive.’
“All kinds of business in Dimapur have become unsustainable except illegal collection business and the business community has become totally insecure with threat, intimidation and overburdened with inability to pay such illegal collection,” the press release stated.
The DCCI has appealed the state government to immediately intervene and take corrective step. Further it has mentioned that ‘out of helplessness,’ the business community will be forced to shut down the entire business in Dimapur.
