Dimapur, November 11: While appreciating the concern of ACAUT with regards to bogus voters as well as illegal immigrants enrolled in electoral roll and clean election campaign, Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) reminded ACAUT that the election to municipal and town councils are not similar to that of an NGOs elections.
Stating that there is Nagaland Municipal and Town Council Act passed by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to guide municipal and town councils, including its election, DCC urged ACAUT leaders to understand that there should be separated electoral roll for municipal and town councils and not extract from Election Commission of India electoral roll which is prepare every year.
While supporting ACAUT’s appeal to the Election Commission of India to carry out intensive electoral roll to delete four lakhs bogus voters in the State, DCC also asked ACAUT to appeal the State Election Commission to carry out intensive electoral roll for municipal and town councils election by appointing independent enumerator before the election is held as per the Municipal and Town Council Act.
DCC general secretary, Khrozote Kapfo was of the view that any issues concerning common man and corruption at any level should be it taken up by political parties or NGOs for logical conclusion and result oriented and not just files RTI and published in the media to get attention for short term fame.
