WOKHA — Deputy Commissioner of Wokha and chairperson of District Level Committee, Mission Shakti, Mhathung Tsanglao, has called upon women facing violence, abuse, or emotional distress to approach the Sakhi - One Stop Centre (OSC) for assistance, assuring that all cases are handled with confidentiality, dignity, and care.
The DC made the appeal while addressing the press at his office on Monday.
Highlighting the importance of awareness and the functioning of the OSC, Tsanglao stressed that women should not remain silent due to fear of social stigma, societal pressure, or concerns over family reputation.
He maintained that timely reporting and intervention can protect victims and provide access to justice and rehabilitation.
The DC further appealed to community leaders, apex bodies, civil society organisations, and the public to extend cooperation to the centre, noting that combating violence against women requires collective responsibility.

The OSC, located at District Hospital Wokha, works in close coordination with the police and medical authorities to ensure immediate response and safety for victims.
Staffed with trained counsellors, legal case workers, and professionals, the centre provides counselling, legal aid, medical first aid, and temporary shelter facilities for up to five days.
Official statement provided by Wokha OSC stated that the centre deals with cases of domestic violence, physical assault, emotional and psychosocial abuse, sexual abuse, economic abuse, cybercrime, and property disputes.
Since its inception in 2019, the OSC has registered 159 cases, with domestic violence accounting for the highest number at 67, followed by 51 cases involving women in distress.
Fourteen cases have already been registered in 2026, including eight related to domestic violence. The centre has also handled cases of cybercrime, sexual assault, child labour, and three attempted murder cases. Currently, six cases remain active while the rest have been resolved.
