Dimapur, November 15: With the declaration of Kohima as a smoke free-city, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, said smoking in public places will be strictly prohibited and requested the members of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for active participation in creating awareness so as to transform Kohima into a real smoke free city.
The DC made the call at the Kohima DPDB day out and annual get-together at Medical College site, Phriebazü, P Khel in Kohima village on November 15. Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor urged all officers to take advantage of DPDB platform and take active role in its activities. Stating that the departmental presentation in the forum enables various departments to create awareness on its activities among the members and the society, he hoped such exercises would strengthen and make more effective to carry out its activities in respective areas.
The DC also appreciated the Ward Adoption Committees for actively involved in its activities for the public benefit of the area.
Also apprising on effort to conserve energy, he requested members to propagate the programme by installing LED bulb in every household, colony and offices to reduce power consumption within the district.
The DC also informed that 95% of land acquisition for the Medical College has been completed. He hoped that with the 100% completion of the process, the project will come up successfully for the benefit of the public and the State as well. He further reminded all the district officers to render their services for the benefit of the public and also gain the support of the public wherever they have been posted.
Chairman of Kohima Village Council, Medoselhou Keretsü, and Chairman of P Khel, Kohima Village, Kruyie Pienyü addressed the gathering.
The program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla Tongpi, who also delivered the welcome address, while the pastor of Phezoucha Baptist Church, Keduoneituo Yhome, invoked God’s blessing for the programme. Members from P Khel Kohima Village presented a folk song and the vote of thanks was proposed by DPRO Kohima, Ruopfulenuo Mepfhüo.
Coinciding with the programme, the monthly DPDB meeting was also held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor.
The members deliberated on formation of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee and decided to entrust the matter to the Core Committee for examination and submit the report in the next DPDB meeting.
The house also decided to approve eight applicants for newly registration of society which were verified by the concerned verifying officers. Various Adoption Committees were entrusted to present report in the next DPDB meeting.
