Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Mohammad Ali, had called a meeting with the representatives of Tuensang Town All Wards Union (TTAWU) on August 7 to discuss on issues regarding sanitation, dumping ground and laying of optical fibre cables along the main roads.
Highlighting on the ongoing laying of optic fibre cable works, the DC said the works are part of the national optical fibre network. He emphasised upon the responsibilities all stakeholders and the citizens to ensure that the works are implemented according to specifications.
In this regards, the DC suggested forming a committee comprising of N Orenthung Kikon, EAC Tuensang, along with Tochi Chang, president of TTAWU, and representatives of the wards to ensure quality work. A DIPR report stated that digging of roads on account of the ongoing laying of optic fibre cables have compounded the woes of the citizens especially due to the slush created by the loose soil during the monsoon rains.
On the garbage dumping site, the members expressed that it is not only a sore sight for any visitor/ traveller but also pose serious threat to health. TTAWU has unanimously demanded shifting of the garbage dumping ground at the earliest.
Shortage of garbage collection vehicles and issues regarding maintenance and upkeep of the same were also discussed in the house. Discussions were also held to identify most vulnerable and affected areas within each ward with regards to natural disaster.
The members suggested the need for an in-charge with regards to sanitation in every sector. In conclusion, the DC suggested TTAWU president to compile all findings with regard to urban civic issues and present to the ADC Tuensang who is also in-charge of the Tuensang Town Committee (TTC) to be forwarded to the Urban Development department/ NSDMA/ Municipal Affairs department so that the same might be brought to the notice of the DPDB chairman and the Deputy Commissioner.
