DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, in an order, prohibited unauthorised checking of public vehicles and interference with law enforcement activities along the National Highway within the Peren district.
The order stated that such actions have led to unwarranted intrusions, harassment, and disorder. It added that the primary purpose of highways is to facilitate the smooth movement of individuals, vehicles, and the transportation of goods and commodities.
It reminded all citizens that only authorised personnel from the police and transport departments are permitted to carry out patrolling and vehicle checks on the highway.
The deputy commissioner cautioned that any individuals or groups found engaging in such activities along the National Highways or any other state highway or passage would face serious consequences in accordance with the relevant sections of the law.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In addition to this, the deputy commissioner directed the village councils to communicate the directive to their respective village members and organisations, emphasising the importance of refraining from engaging in such practices within their jurisdictions. It further anticipated compliance to ensure peace, security and efficient functioning of public roadways.
