Deputy Commissioner Niuland T L Kiusumong Tikhir convened a consultative meeting to tackle child labour in brick factories and highway hotels.

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Niuland T L Kiusumong Tikhir convened a consultative meeting on preventing child labour and child exploitation in the district on Monday at the DC's office in Niuland.
Addressing the gathering, Kiusumong stated that the meeting was not merely symbolic and that all subsequent activities must be impactful and fruitful. He added that the future rests on children and that society's approach towards them should be more responsible and sensitive.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting specifically deliberated on ways and means of solving the problems of child labour in brick factories and highway hotels.
The DC urged the district child protection officer and the Labour department to coordinate and organise awareness programmes involving all stakeholders, for which August 4 has been scheduled.
