DC Mon issues precautionary measures

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): In view of the lifting of total lockdown in Mon district on July 15, the deputy commissioner, Mon, has issued guidelines on Covid-19 precautionary measures to be enforced in the entire district till further notice.

In a notification, DC Mon, Thavaseelan K has urged everyone to treat himself/ herself as asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19 and take necessary safety precautions, not to stigmatise the returnees released from the quarantine centres, compulsorily wear mask in public places, workplace and during transport. It warned that a fine of INR 100 would be imposed for violation, a DIPR update stated.

It has also strictly prohibited spitting in public places, selling of tobacco, gutka and other tobacco products. Persons above 65 years and children below 10 years are advised to stay at home except on medical emergencies. Large public gathering for social, religious, cultural, academic purpose would continue to remain prohibited and not more than 20 people would be permitted in case of funerals, the report stated adding the concerned ward/ village task force are directed to strictly enforce the order.

It also stated that all shop owners should sell goods to customers only upon production of the household movement permit/ authorisation letter issued by the district administration. It added that only one person per household would be allowed to come out for procuring essential commodities and withdrawing of cash from the banks/ ATMs.

The report also stated that hair cutting saloons, beauty parlours, hotel and dine in restaurants would remain closed, while home delivery would be permitted.

The report also warned that failure to abide with the notification would invite strict disciplinary action under section 188 of the IPC.

It stated that vehicles plying from Assam carrying essential commodities for Mon town and various subdivisions would be allowed on Monday and Saturday.

t, however, informed that the total lockdown would continue to remain enforced in containment zones unless notified otherwise. All activities within containment zones would be strictly monitored by the ward task force, village task force for delivery of essential goods/services.

It warned that any person violating those measures would be liable to be prosecuted as per the provisions of the section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.

Bans import and trading of dogs

The deputy commissioner of Mon, has banned the commercial import and trading of dogs and dog markets as well as commercial sale of dog meat in markets and dine in restaurants with immediate effect.

The DC Mon, Thavaseelan K issued this order in pursuance to the chief secretary's notification No.CSO/ CORRES-19/ CAB/ 2017 dated Kohima the July 4 2020 and as per Regulation 2.5 (1) (a) of the FSSAI Regulations 2011.

It warned that any person found violating the order would be punished under Section 428 and 429 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Section 11 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and any such other provision of law as may be applicable.
