Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO), Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal has briefed leaders of all the political parties and leaders from Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang and AKM on the ensuing state general elections and sought their fullest cooperation to ensure peaceful election in the district.
In the meeting with the political parties and civil society on January 18, the DC has also informed them about the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged them to strictly adhere to it.
Following the designation of Returning Officer for each assembly constituencies in the state of Nagaland by the Election Commission of India through a notification dated November 1, 2017, the DC stated that filing of nomination papers by candidates should be done at ease in the ensuing assembly election in the state. Earlier, candidates had to come to their respective district to file their nomination papers before the DC & DEO, who was designated as Returning Officer for all the assembly constituencies in the district.
The DC informed that eight Returning Officers have been designated in respect of Mokokchung district. Candidates from 21 Tuli A/C would now file their nomination papers before ADC, Tuli, designated as Returning Officer for Tuli A/C, while candidates from 22 Arkakong A/C would file nominations papers before SDO (C), Changtongya. ADC Mokokchung, W Manpai has been designated as Returning Officer for 23 Impur and 24 Angetyongpang Assembly Constituencies, while SDO (C) M Chaitenya Prasad has been designated as Returning Officer for 25 Mongoya and 26 Aongleden Assembly constituencies and Longdiba L Sangtam would be the Returning Officer for 27 Mokokchung town and 28 Koridang Assembly Constituencies.
SDO (C) Mangkolemba, Chonpen Ezung, would be the Returning Officer for 29 Jangpetkong A/C, while ADC Mangkolemba has been designated as Returning Officer for 30 Alongdaki A/C.
