Dimapur, Oct. 6 (EMN): Longleng Deputy Commissioner, John Tsulise Sangtam on Saturday asked all the departments and government officers to come forward in assisting and contributing towards the proper management of the district hospital.
The Longleng DC, Sangtam, who chaired the monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting at the DC’s conference hall, said that the district hospital Longleng was in a pitiable condition without proper toilet facility, waste management, lack of water supply etc. Therefore, he asked all the officers and departments for assistance in managing the hospital till the proposed new building is completed.
Saying that the students and women organisations, the administrator of the Longleng town council and the business community have come forward to assist the hospital in different way, Sangtam said that he expects the same from the government officers and the departments.
Sangtam also urged the hospital authority to complete the OT (operation theater) and delivery room at the earliest so that the people do not suffer. He said that once the operation theater is completed, all minor operations can be performed in the hospital without having to be referred to other districts.
The DC also expressed distress at the very less turnout of students at Leinyak govt. primary school for the Measles-Rubella vaccination and therefore, directed the education department to examine the case from the school authority and report the matter to him. Nonetheless, he urged the members present in the board meeting to play an active role in sensitising the people in their respective community by clarifying on the rumours being spread on social media and on the importance of the MR vaccine for the future of the children.
The DC also said that Longleng will be made ‘LED town very soon’ and said that once the ordered LED bulbs reach the office, then an order will be issued to all the shops to ban the sales of incandescent bulbs and tube lights and to sell only LED bulbs in the market. He also apprised the board that the use of LED has reduced power interruption in the district in the recent months.
Supplementing the deputy commissioner, the SDO (C), D. Robin, while informing the board that the use of LED lights at homes and offices save energy, urged the officers to encourage the villagers and their community to purchase and use LED light which is available at DC office at 90% subsidised rate. He also said that churches, NGOs and individuals can also purchase LED Street lights and fans at subsidy rate from the DC office.
Meanwhile, the board recommended the proposal submitted by the Eastern Nagaland Women Organization (ENWO) for registration of their society. The Manager DIC (Industries) Longleng and DHO (Horti.) presented their departmental activities. The deputy commissioner directed the supply department and Yingli College to present their departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.
EAC Vitoka also apprised the members to submit the list of all government officers under respective department to ascertain the membership for officers’ club of Longleng.
