Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, observing the landslide and continuous erosions at Phesama and the bailey bridges at Kiruphema, Dzubza river and Lower Dzubza bridge, Tsiesema road has issued a directive to all the concerned departments including the enforcement agencies like the area Administrative officers, PWD Department, NHIDCL, 15th BRTF, local panchayats etc., for immediate attention and intervention and also identify the hazardous areas. Pointing that putting the life of the general public and commuters in a situation of risk will be inconvenience and hardship, DC called for mitigation of the same to avert major disaster like the recent collapse of the Referral Hospital Bridge at Dimapur. Leaving the locations unattended, he said may cause a catastrophe, mishap and calamity of magnitude in this district.
The directive has been issued as per the provision as laid down in Section 30 (III), (VI), (V), (XX), (XXIV), 34 (h) and 41 (C) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and comes into force with immediate effect for strict compliance and necessary action by all concerned. The concerned HoDs shall submit the Action Taken Report in this regard at the earliest to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
