Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): In view of the state-wide mass social work to be held on Sep. 29, a coordination meeting to chalk out the sequence for work distribution and action plan was called by the Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS at DC’s Conference Hall on Sep. 26 which was attended by Advisor to Rural Development Dr. Nicky Kire and Advisor to Vety. & AH, R. Khing, district head officers and NGOs.
A DIPR news update stated that Advisor Nicky Kire, at the meeting, informed the house of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s wish to have a proper social work all over the state keeping in line with the Swatchh Bharat Day and in commemoration of 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd Oct. and along with the coming Hornbill Festival.
Requesting all the departments and individuals to take responsibility and give best efforts to keep the city clean, Kire asked all concerned to take measures wherever plantation drives were carried out for beautification and also to take pro-active steps in clearing objects like building materials dumped in the roadside.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the house that the social work will start with wards/colonies in town, administrative headquarters, sub-divisions and villages from 7 am on Sep. 29. Therefore, he requested all the administrative officers to have coordination meeting in their respective areas and plan out for social work, the primary focus of which would be clearing of drainage and nullahs.
He also asked the Sector Magistrates to tie up with the colony chairman and pre-identify the major area to be attended during the social work. The deputy commissioner further requested all the designated departments to make necessary arrangement for collection of debris and waste and dispose off at the KMC dumping site. He also requested the NGOs to plan out their activities to address the primary focus in consultation with the concerned council or panchayat.
