DC Kiphire announces ‘Sardar@150’ padayatra

DIMAPUR — As part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kiphire Temsuwati Longkuner has announced that the district administration will hold a "padayatra" on November 4 under the banner of "Sardar@150".

“The year 2025 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose statesmanship and commitment to national unity laid the foundation for a united India,” said the DC during a press conference on October 31.

The padayatra will commence at 9:00 am from Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire, as the designated starting point, and will culminate at the DC Office, Kiphire. The march will traverse through the town, where various cultural and thematic programmes will be held to celebrate India’s diversity and unity.

“We aim to make it a participatory event involving citizens, government departments, Colleges, Schools and Youth volunteers from My Bharat Kendras. With collective effort, we can make this 150th Unity March a grand tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” he said.

The DC appealed to all citizens of Kiphire to join the event in large numbers and contribute to its success.

In Dimapur, meanwhile, the Sports Authority of India, Sports Training Centre, along with the Nagaland State Sports Academy (girls) and individuals, joined the rest of the country in celebrating Fit India Run 6.0 in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.
