Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur has on Friday extended the ban on use of heavy machinery for mining of resources in the Dhansiri and Chathe rivers that was in force from September 29, 2016 and extended till further notice.
"Consequent upon the expiry of date of banning the use of heavy machinery for extraction of resources (sand gravels & boulders) in Dhansiri & Chathe River within Dimapur District per the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Order No. GEN-9/DEV/2016-D/9518-19 Dated: Dimapur, the 29th September 2016, the order is further extended till further notice," read an official notification from the DC.The reason of the ban provided was for "preservation of the river and its resources and to address the issue of inundation of flood water to surrounding villages along the river bank".
The DC also issued directives for strict compliance of the order by all concerned.
