Dimapur, August 1 (EMN): “Youth of the present generation should keep themselves well update with the latest world phenomenon in the like of climate change and political development etc in order to keep abreast with the rest of the world,” stated Kesonyü Yhome, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur.
Speaking at a one day seminar jointly organised by Kudawhi Union Kuda (KUD) and Kuda Kewhimia Youth Organisation (KKYO) in the conference hall of Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), Diphupar, on the topic “Career guidance on competitive exam,” on August 1, the DC insisted on diversification of knowledge. He has asked to differentiate between survival of the fittest and question of luxury to become an elite citizen. Kesonyü further urged the civil service aspirants to stop the blame game by accusing/alleging of malpractices or manipulation by various authorities. He was of the view that the best candidate cannot be deterred through defective mechanism.
He further encourage the youth to develop writing skills which reflect ones personality and build up self confidence to take wise decision in building their career.
Dr. Reyosalu Lase, senior dental specialist and Nodal Officer NTCP, Phek, and resource person, spoke on the topic “Harmful effect of tobacco.” She said tobacco is just a simple ordinary leaves known as ‘Nicotina’ which produces more than 7000 poisonous substances.
Stating that tobacco is consume by human in two forms ‘Smokeless’ and ‘Smoking,’ she said Nagas top the list in the country in consuming smokeless tobacco. While sharing on the hazardous substances effecting human, she said, tobacco is an addictive substance which commonly affect the heart, liver, lung etc which has adverse effects in peoples of all ages. She further went on to say that 7 million people died of cancer annually and out of which 40% of the deceased are related to tobacco.
She called upon the youth to stay away from destroying one’s own body which is against the will of Almighty God, but develop a health conscious person as well as disseminate the hazardous substance of tobacco in every possible ways so as to build a better future.
K Martin Pienyü, DIGP (Training and Border), who also spoke on the topic ‘Career in police,’ shared the structure of how the police department is set up. He said policing is a service where one has to sacrifice everything even to the extent of giving one’s own lives. He also briefed the youth in details with the selection and induction process in the police department.
Coinciding with the seminar, Kuda Kewhimia Youth Organisation (KKYO) was also formally launched by KUD advisor Charlie Sekhose. He also unveiled the logo of KUD. Delivering short speech, he blessed the KKYO and called the youth to be sincere, honest and be torch bearers for the society.
The day-long programme was chaired by James Vizo, while Rev. Kezha invoked God blessing. Diphupar Kewhimia Youth enlightened the gathering with a special song.
