Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): Hanging library at Government Middle School in Chümoukedima Block IV was inaugurated on Friday by the deputy commissioner of Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam.
Speaking to media persons, Shivam informed that the collections are Pratham books given to them by Books for All trust. He opined that many people are not reading books as they are expensive. He also asked the principal and teachers to make sure that the students read books because the final purpose of the book is “not to be in shield but to be read.”
He shared that the purpose of the hanging library is also to inculcate the habit of reading among the students. Further, he shared that they are planning to establish a library in Government High School, Chümoukedima, because the school has proved good results over the years led by good teachers and dynamic principal. It will not be a hanging library but an expensive library, he said, adding that there will be books for students of higher students, but he clarified that this planning is still in pipeline.
The success of the school library depends upon only if the books are read and I am very sure that with the intervention of the principal and the teachers, they will make that the students read books, he believed. He also appealed to them to have one period as a library period followed by other activities.
