The capacity-building cell of Don Bosco outreach, Don Bosco Tech of AIDA Centre, today launched its 7th batch skill training course for unemployed youth. DB Tech has been providing skill-training to school drop-outs, the unemployed and the grass-root population to generate livelihood particularly those belonging to the Below Poverty Line families.
The training course was launched with the Mission Director for State Rural Livelihood Mission Motsuthung Lotha as the chief guest and Executive Director of Don Bosco Tech FM Joseph as the guest of honour. Don Bosco Tech (DB Tech) is an NGO engaged in offering skill training to unemployed BPL youth in the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.Addressing the gathering, Motsuthung Lotha said the Nagas are fortunate to have Don Bosco Tech. It is helping the youth by imparting knowledge to them in finding gainful employment. He said the Nagaland government is willing to render assistance and work in partnership with AIDA. The chief guest has urged the DB Tech authorities not to set any age criteria for individuals. ‘One is never too old to learn,’ he explained.
Further, Lotha pointed out that the quality of life has been changing fast while the economic status of the state remains weak. He urged every person to take the responsibility of bringing about changes in the society. He was optimistic that the type of knowledge imparted to the youth would help improve the economic status of the people of Nagaland.
For the year 2013-2014, DB Tech has targeted 1950 youth. Till date, DB Tech has trained 1, 753 youths including the seventh batch mates. Out of 1, 753 youth, 1,353 youths have been placed in different reputed companies such as Taj Group of Hotels, Lakme Beauty Saloon, ITC Grand Chola, Club Mahindra, Stirling Holidays, Royal Orchids, Fruition Hotels, The Perk Hotel, Resorts and many reputed spas from all over the country.
The DB Tech, initiative brings together trainees from all the tribes of Nagaland with an aim to learn and get employment.
Trainees of today’s inauguration would be undergoing 3-months training on two subjects namely hospitality spa and hospitality food and beverages. The programme was marked by presentation of traditional performances from various tribes of Nagaland.
