KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 27: Ratobe and Kekhrie Tsira scored a hat-trick as Nagaland Police (Red) blanked Wiggle FC 11-0 to make it through to the next round of the ongoing NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy here at Kohima local ground.
With the humiliating victory, the police team has signalled their entry into the tournament as one of the favourite contenders to lift the coveted title of the 17th edition of the NSF Trophy 2016.
Tuesday’s victory margin of 11-0 will also go down on the record of the NSF Martyrs’ Trophy as one of the biggest win ever in recent times.
Mention to be made that the Tangkhul Students’ Union (TSU), with their victory against Oleanders 12-1 in 2002 edition, holds the record of winning with the biggest margin ever at the NSF Martyrs’ Trophy.
The Nagaland Police (Red), on Tuesday, has equalled the record of the 13 Assam Rifles, who outclassed Baptist High, Kohima by 11-0 in 2010.
Playing the third match of the day, the Khuochiezie ground witnessed raining goals as the police team showed no mercy against their opponents who were left unable to defend their oppression.The police team not only won with a big margin but their centre-forward Atun became the fastest scorer of this edition when he scored in 2 minutes and 35 seconds.

Even before the Wiggle FC could regroup after a 1-0 deficit, the Nagaland Police (Red) took the second lead in the 4th minute as Ratobe scored his first goal.
Celebration times for the police team followed one after the other as Kekhrie Tsira scored in the 15th minute, while Limakumzuk and Lipok also scored in the 31st and 33rd minutes respectively.
Trailing behind, the Wiggle FC players were left with no hope of turning the match back to their favour. All out to humiliate their opponent, the police team continued their domination and in the process, Ratobe went on to score his hat-trick as he scored two consecutive goals in the 39th and 44th minutes.
With the match almost secured in their favour, the police team also had the luxury to bring all their substitute players to the field. T. Meren, who replaced Lipok in the second half also scored in the 55th minute.
Moving into the final quarter of the match, it was celebration time for the police midfielder Kekhrie Tsira as he joined Ratobe to become the second hat-trick scorer. Kekhrie scored in the 58th and 60th minutes. Just before the final whistle, Akum scored in the stoppage time to take the scoreboard to 11-0.
Earlier in the first match, Veracious FC beat Blaze Boys FC, Jotsoma by 2-1 to make it to the next round. Veracious FC took the lead when Senowe Khutso’s touch found the net in the 25th minute.
Entering the second half, the Blaze Boys FC equalised in the 60th minute through Kele, but their celebration was short lived as Senowe went on to score his second goal in the 70th minute to seal the match in favour of the Veracious FC.
In the second match of the day, the Gariphema Village Youth Organisation (GVYO) made their entry to the next round with their victory against Froster’s FC via a tie-break. The match headed for tie-break as both the teams were locked in goalless until the end of the 70 minutes stipulated time.
While in the fourth match, Chedema FC defeated MT Youth Club, Kohima by a solitary goal to register their entry to the next round. The lone goal of the match was scored by Khriesavizo in the 57th minute.
