Four families were rendered homeless after a suspected firecracker-related blaze gutted four homes in Darogapathar during New Year celebrations.

DIMAPUR — Four families were rendered homeless after a fire, suspected to have been caused by firecrackers during New Year celebrations, broke out at Block-B, Darogapathar village, in Dimapur around midnight on January 1.
According to the Central Fire Station, a distress call was received at around 12.30 am, following which two fire tenders along with fire personnel were rushed to the spot.

An additional fire tender from the Chümoukedima Fire Station later joined the operation.
The fire completely gutted the thatched houses, reducing them to ashes. The affected families were unable to salvage any belongings. No casualties were reported.
