Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): The Business Association of Darogapathar and the Darogapathar Youth Organisation on Saturday strongly condemned ‘a certain Naga national group’ for forcibly closing a renowned business establishment at Darogapathar village, in Dimapur, on Oct. 2 because the establishment could not pay what reportedly was exorbitant “tax” demanded by the group.
The business association’s president, Imenuklo Longchar, and the youths’ general secretary, Otto Murumi, denounced in a press statement ‘such forceful demands and the attempt to create unrest and disharmony within the Darogapathar village jurisdiction.’ While appreciating the declaration by the “Naga national political groups” to exempt Naga entrepreneurs from ‘taxation,’ the two organisations asked the groups to be sensitive to the issue of ‘taxation’ because the multiple levies on the business community was already overburdening the public. “We firmly support the call from the Business Association of Nagas to exempt Naga entrepreneurs from taxation,” the two organisations stated.
