Dakshata training underway in Tuensang

Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN):  A training programme on 'Dakshata' organised by the District Health Society (DHS) Tuensang was started on Aug. 9 at its District Hospital. An update from the hospital establishment issued on Aug. 9 mentioned that the ongoing training focuses on strengthening technical skills and standardisation and to improve Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) care during deliveries. In the update, the chief medical officer of Tuensang Dr. T Pangjung Sangtam stated that the training seeks to update the skills of the health workers for performing essential practices during childbirth. The resource persons for the ongoing training are said to be Dr. I Temsu Longchar, the deputy chief medical officer, Tuensang; and Dr. Yarenthung, a gynaecologist at District Hospital in Tuensang. Dakshata is said to be an initiative of the Government of India which was introduced to improve the quality of maternal and newborn care during the intra-and immediate postpartum period. The training is said to conclude on Aug. 25.
