A three-day district-level training on Dakshata for health officials underway in Mon town.

DIMAPUR — A three-day district-level training on Dakshata for medical officers (MO), community health officers (CHO) and nurses, organised by the Mon District Health Society (DHS) got underway on Wednesday at the conference hall of the District Hospital in Mon town.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon, stated that the training was designed for doctors, nurses and midwives involved in maternal and newborn care during and after childbirth. The programme would cover various aspects including routine care of mothers and newborns, early identification and management of complications, infection prevention and evidence-based practices.
During the inaugural programme, Dr. Wungyong, DPO (RCH&UIP), welcomed all participants and highlighted the goal of the training, which was to reinforce learning. He added that the training was to ensure healthcare providers to use their abilities effectively at their respective health facilities.

He explained that the initiative would focus on periodic performance audits to track progress and identify areas for improvement in order to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity by boosting quality treatment during childbirth. He, therefore, urged the participants to be attentive and clear doubts to achieve the goal of making themselves into competent skilled healthcare professionals.
It stated that resource persons namely Dr. Yingngam Wangnaolim, gynecologist at DH, and Dr. Chimang Paul, pediatrician at DH, would take sessions on introduction to the concept of quality of care and role of safe childbirth checklist; care at the time of admission; essential practices just before, during and after delivery and essential practices at the time of discharge.
